So growing up in NYC, Brooklyn and then Queens, this movie Do The Right Thing was so real to me because the city was really experiencing what he was portraying AND I was around when they did the filming so I always felt connected in some way...well peep the following. I hope it does make it to the movie theater, I will definitely check it out..after the jump

Spike Lee is reprising his iconic character Mookie (from Do The Right Thing) for a forthcoming film entilted Red Hook Summer, which premieres at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 22.

The movie stars Jules Brown, Toni Lysaith, Nate Parker, James Ransone, Keke Palmer and Thomas Jefferson Byrd, and features the diverse group of characters sweating it out during a summer in Brooklyn. The film follows the main character, Flik, who is sent to spend the summer with his grandfather in Brooklyn at a housing project called Red Hook.

The movie doesn't have a theatrical release date yet, but since Spike Lee is directing we're going to be optimistic that it might be good.

Some closure to Heavy D Death

The mystery around Heavy D's death has found some answers today. TMZreports the rapper died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg veinthrombosis. Heavy was onboard a long flight back to L.A. from the Michael Forever Tribute concert in Wales, which may have also been a contributing factor.

A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of one or more arteries in the lungs. It is most often caused by blood clots which travel in from other parts of he body. Deep leg vein thrombosis is often associated with long plane flights, in which a clot can form due to prolonged immobility.

Doctors from the L.A. County Coroner's Office say Heavy also suffered from heart disease. The ailment is lilkely to be another contributing factor to Heavy's Death.

Nine Stubborn Brain Myths That Just Won’t Die, Debunked by Science

Brain games will make you smarter! The internet is making you dumber! Alcohol is killing your brain cells! The brain is a mystery we've been trying to solve for ages, and the desire to unlock its secrets has led to vast amounts of misinformation. Many of these false notions are more widely believed than the truth. We took our healthy skepticism and a bunch of brain research to find the truth behind some of the most common myths about intelligence and our brains. Here's what we learned.

Myth 1: Left-Brained People Are Organized, Right-Brained People Are Creative

Full sizeWe're a stubborn people who become set in our ways, so it's no wonder we want to believe that our inclination towards creativity or organized thinking is decided at birth. The right- or left-brained myth suggests we're simply fulfilling a version of our genetic destiny and we should accept our strengths and weaknesses as part of who we are. But as Lisa Collier Cool points out in her article for Yahoo Health, we're not really right- or left-brained at all:
This myth began in the 1800s, where doctors discovered that injury to one side of the brain frequently caused loss of specific abilities. Brain scan experiments, however, show that the two halves of the brain are much more intricately linked than was originally thought, so problem-solving or creative tasks fire up activity in regions of both hemispheres of the brain, not just half. It is true that the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body and vice versa, so a right-brain injury can cause disability on the left side of the body.

More recently this myth has been used as an attempt to explain creativity, dyslexia, and even homosexuality in left-handed people, but the origin of the southpaw is still a mystery. Whether or not there is a compelling link between right- or left-handedness and specific common traits remains to be seen, but rest-assured that being more creative or more organized doesn't inhibit you from having a talent for both.

Myth 2: Your Memory Is An Exact Account of What You See and Experience

Full sizeSome of us have better memories than others, but no memory is perfect. If you need proof, close your eyes and try to imagine the face of someone you know. In fact, try to imagine your own face. While you'll be able to conjure up a decent idea of the way you or anyone else looks, you won't be able to envision every last detail. This is because our memories don't recall anything we see, hear, sell, taste, or touch with much detail at all. Instead, as psychologist Dan Gilbert points out in his book Stumbling On Happiness, our brains record the seemingly necessary details and fill in the rest when it's time to remember:

[T]he elaborate tapestry of our experience is not stored in memory-at least not in its entirety. Rather, it is compressed for storage by ﬁrst being reduced to a few critical threads, such as a summary phrase ("Dinner was disappointing") or a small set of key features (tough steak, corked wine, snotty waiter). Later, when we want to remember our experience, our brains quickly reweave the tapestry by fabricating-not by actually retrieving-the bulk of the information that we experience as a memory. This fabrication happens so quickly and effortlessly that we have the illusion (as a good magician's audience always does) that the entire thing was in our heads the entire time.

Gilbert's conclusions come from memory researcher Daniel Schacter, who believes the construction of memory is very similar to the way we imagine the future:

We have argued in recently that memory plays a critical role in allowing individuals to imagine or simulate events that might occur in their personal futures. We have further suggested that understanding memory's role in future event simulation may be important for understanding the constructive nature of memory, because the former requires a system that allows flexible recombination of elements of past experience, which may also contribute to memory errors.

While a little common sense and life experience can demonstrate the imperfections in your (and everyone else's) memory, Schacter's research points to two important things: we're no good at recalling past events or imagining the future because our process for doing either is essentially the same—at least as far as our brain functionality is concerned. While this points to much more of a problem than a solution, it certainly helps to remember that no memory is perfect and we're all designed to recall with error. Next time someone gets something wrong, it's at least worth remembering that.

Myth 3: You Only Use 10% of Your Brain

As with many myths, you can generally begin the debunking process by reminding yourself that the claim is pretty ridiculous. If we only used 10% of our brains, what's the point of the other 90%? According to myth-busting site Snopes, it was television that made us dumber:

In 1998, national magazine ads for U.S. Satellite Broadcasting showed a drawing of a brain. Under it was the caption, "You only use 11 percent of its potential." Well, they're a little closer than the ten-percent figure, but still off by about 89 percent. In July 1998, ABC television ran promotional spots for The Secret Lives of Men, one of their offerings for the fall season's lineup. The spot featured a full-screen blurb that read, "Men only use ten percent of their brains."

After that, champions of the paranormal used the 10% claim to explain the potential for psychic powers. It became fun to imagine the incredible potential available to us humans once we were able to unlock the remaining 90%. Unfortunately for superpower fans everywhere, we're already enjoying most of what our brains can currently offer. Lisa Collier Cool explains:

Brain imaging studies using PET scans and functional MRI show that any mentally complex activity uses many areas of the brain, and over a day, just about all of the brain gets a workout. More proof that the entire brain is crucial for daily life is the devastating impact of damage to even a small area of the brain. However, we do have some brain reserves. An autopsy study found that seniors who stay mentally active-through activities like reading the paper, going to the theater, or playing chess-are less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease-even if they have the characteristic physical brain changes typical of dementia, suggesting that mental function has a "use it or lose it" component. That allows people who keep their brain stimulated to develop more brain reserves, allowing them to continue functioning normally even as their brains are being damaged by Alzheimer's.

While you can't look forward to developing incredible superpowers with the help of rapid evolution, or any other crazy theory, you can keep yourself healthier later in life by simply staying mentally active. You may not be able to bend metal with your mind, but at least you'll stay coherent in your golden years.

Myth 4: Alcohol Kills Brain Cells

Just as we noted when debunking the myth that you only use 10% of your brain, a little bit of brain damage goes a long way. If you were actively killing brain cells when consuming alcohol, you'd notice some permanent side effects pretty quickly. Although alcohol does have a significant effect on your brain and body, brain damage isn't a given. You'll have to drink yourself into a coma to go that far.
The proof comes from a 1993 study by Grethe Jensen that matched brain samples from both (deceased) alcoholics and non-alcoholics and found no difference in the density of brain cells. (You can read more about this study here.) What alcohol actually does in inhibit the functionality of brain cells, and former Lifehacker writer Kevin Purdy explained it best:

What alcohol can and does do to your brain is affect the way your neurons get their firing triggers from glutamate. It infiltrates the glutamate receptors in your synapses, hurting their ability to send off their normal "fire" messages. Alcohol has this impact all across your brain—the parts that control muscles, speech, coordination, judgment, and so on. Keep that in mind the next time you or someone else claims that they drive, golf, or otherwise perform some task better with alcohol's help.

In the end, you just need to worry more about your choices than the lifespan of your brain.

Myth 5: The Internet Is Making Us Dumber

Full sizeIf you're familiar with the term "sweeping generalizations," this myth is one of them. Any claim that takes on a large entity and attempts to boil it down to a single, simplistic conclusions is bound to be wrong. This is how we end up with stereotypes. Claiming that the internet is making us dumber could have the glimmer of truth under specific circumstances, but so far no research points to any significant dumbing down of the sort.

The reason we find it easy to believe the internet is making us dumber is because, in some ways, it's making us less self-reliant. Our GPS devices navigate for us and we neglect to remember things because we have Google search. That doesn't make us dumber, necessarily, but rather causes us to rely more on what psychologist Daniel Wagner calls transactive memory. This type of memory is actually very useful because it allows us to, in essence, store more data in less space. Instead of remembering the contents of an entire article, we can simple remember the name or a few key words that we can entire into a search engine to pull it up.

This comes with the obvious downside of lacking the full recall for actual information in your brain, which is why many people feel the internet is turning us into idiots. When our access is cut off, suddenly we're bereft of our knowledge because our transactive memories are rendered useless. The reality is, without actual proof that the internet is making us dumber, so far it appears that the entire idea hinges on the evolving manner in which we interact with and access information as opposed to any sort of fact, making this more of a cultural claim than a scientific one.

Myth 6: Listening to Classical Music Turns Babies into Geniuses

This myth began with a study conducted by Dr. Gordon Shaw and Dr. Frances Rauscher at UC Irvine in the early 90s. Preliminary results suggested that a specific piece of music composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart boosted the spatial-temporal reasoning skills in young children. This made for big headlines and the creation of entire businesses surrounding the sale of Mozart-based products to mothers who wanted their children to become geniuses with the press of a play button. According to Brian Dunning of the podcast Skeptoid, the final results weren't quite so miraculous. He said, "although they had some promising preliminary results from a particular Mozart piece which made immediate worldwide headlines, the full study eventually showed no significant result." Likewise, in an in depth analysis on the Mozart Effect, Donna Lerch and Thomas Anderson concluded:

The music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is both physically and aesthetically accessible to the general public. A number of studies have indicated that listening to Mozart's work may temporarily increase cognitive skills. Other studies have found no statistically significant "Mozart effect". It is unfortunate that the media and commercial ventures have taken the initial modest, unverified study and conjured up a pseudo-science which gave rise to, and which continues to promote, a full-blown industry.

Despite the readily available truth, the preliminary findings of this initial study were blown so far out of proportion that Mozart brain boost is one of the more stubborn myths still alive in our culture. If you like classical music, there's likely no harm in playing it for your child so long as you don't expect it to do any of the hard work for you.

Myth 7: Brain Games Make You Smarter

Wouldn't it be nice if we could actually boost our brain power by playing a few games on the bus ride to work? That's the promise the popular Nintendo DS title Brain Age made, starting a brain games trend that rages on. The BBC commissioned a commissioned a study to test these claims and found that they didn't really make a difference:

More than 8,600 people aged 18 to 60 were asked to play online brain games designed by the researchers to improve their memory, reasoning and other skills for at least 10 minutes a day, three times a week. They were compared to more than 2,700 people who didn't play any brain games, but spent a similar amount of time surfing the Internet and answering general knowledge questions. Researchers said the people who did the brain training didn't do any better on the test after six weeks than people who had simply been on the Internet. On some sections of the test, the people who surfed the Net scored higher than those playing the games.

That isn't to say that practicing simple math—one of the games included in Brain Age—won't do you some good. We use simple math on a daily basis, after all. That said, look at any brain games you play as specific practice. You'll get better at that game, but don't expect any boost in your general intelligence.

Myth 8: Your IQ Is Fixed and Stays the Same Throughout Your Life

Your IQ, or intelligence quotient, is a score that's supposed to quantify your level of intelligence. What defines intelligence is still up for debate, so a high IQ isn't necessarily an accurate measurement, but it has long been assumed that our scores don't change—we're stuck at the level of intelligence we were born with. As you may have guessed, that's not true. Business Insider points to a few studies that show changes in IQ after just a few weeks of effort:

There's a lot of research supporting this theory. In one, "33 British students were given IQ tests and brain scans at ages 12 to 16 and again about four years later by researchers at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at University College London; 9% of the students showed a significant change of 15 points or more in IQ scores," reports the Journal. And these changes weren't just due to measuring errors. The MRIs showed changes in gray matter - which are linked to IQ - says one of the study's co-authors, Cathy Price.

This is good news, because it seems that having a higher IQ is a good thing. People with a lower IQ (meaning in the 75 to 90 range) are more likely to wind up in prison, in poverty, or drop out of high school. A study conducted at the University of Delaware asserts that a higher IQ also has a correlation with higher social intelligence. Since IQ can change, these studies may not relate so much to people with higher scores but rather hardworking, studious individuals. Either way, there seems to be no harm in boosting your score and nothing barring you from doing so.

Myth 9: Your Brain Works Better Under Pressure

At some point in your life, you may have experienced a moment where you had an impossible deadline and somehow managed to finish your work—perhaps even exceptionally well. When the pressure is on, sometimes we find it in ourselves to pull through. Although a ticking clock can be an excellent motivator, as the looming consequences of missing a deadline can certainly get you working fast, it doesn't result in better brain performance. In fact, according to the Franklin Institute, pretty much any kind of stress makes it harder for your brain to function:

As science gains greater insight into the consequences of stress on the brain, the picture that emerges is not a pretty one. A chronic overreaction to stress overloads the brain with powerful hormones that are intended only for short-term duty in emergency situations. Their cumulative effect damages and kills brain cells.

In the end, if you believe you work better under pressure it's simply because the end result seems to justify that belief. Stress isn't enabling you to work better, but simply providing the motivation to get you to work in the first place. You'll be doing yourself a favor if you find a better way to get your work done before the clock starts ticking, but if you get stuck in a pinch at least there are a number of ways to keep the stress you're feeling to a minimum.

R.I.P. Heavy D

Its been awhile since Ive posted on my own individual blog. With all thats been going on adn the multiple ventures, just didnt have the time. However in my life, if I had a diary, this would have to be a submission in that. Heavy D is definitely my era of music and in NYC we all grew up together listening to his music. The influences that created his career and the style that affected a hip hop generation will definitely be missed. R.I.P.

Heavy D, the smooth-talking and cheerful rapper who billed himself as “the overweight lover M.C.,” died in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He was 44.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office confirmed the death Tuesday evening, saying that Heavy D had collapsed at his home and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he died shortly after noon. The cause of death was not known as of Tuesday night, but the Beverly Hills police said that there was no evidence of foul play and that the death appeared to be “medically related.”
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Heavy D was one of hip-hop’s most popular and charismatic figures, a girthy slickster who was an eager seducer and was unafraid of the dance floor. He was the frontman of Heavy D & the Boyz, which became the first act signed to Uptown Records, the label that was integral in building the bridge between hip-hop and R&B.
Thanks in part to production from the New Jack Swing auteur Teddy Riley that matched hard-snapping drums with sensual melodies, Heavy D & the Boyz became key figures in the softening of hip-hop’s sharp edges. The group released five albums between 1987 and 1994, three of which went platinum: “Big Tyme” (1989) “Peaceful Journey” (1991) and “Nuttin’ but Love” (1994).
At the time, blending hip-hop and R&B was still something of a novelty, but Heavy D’s work felt seamless. He was a nimble and jubilant-sounding rapper who always chose charm over aggression.
Most of the group’s early hits — songs like “Mr. Big Stuff” and “Gyrlz, They Love Me” — were cheeky, as Heavy D, a flamboyant dresser and an outsize personality, set the template for plus-sized hip-hop Lotharios. By 1991 he had moved on to straightforward love songs like “Is It Good to You” and his group’s biggest hit, “Now That We Found Love,” based on a cover version of a classic O’Jays song by the reggae band Third World.
“Peaceful Journey,” the 1991 Heavy D & the Boyz album, was dedicated to the dancer Trouble T-Roy, one of the Boyz, who died from a fall while the group was on tour in 1990. Mr. Dixon’s death also inspired Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.),” one of hip-hop’s essential tribute songs.
Heavy D was born Dwight Errington Myers on May 24, 1967, in Mandeville, Jamaica, and grew up largely in Mount Vernon, N.Y. His mother worked as a nurse and his father as a movie equipment repairman.
In the mid-1990s he became the president of Uptown Records, and in several other ways his influence extended beyond his albums. He recorded the theme song to the popular comedy variety show “In Living Color”; recorded hit songs with both Michael Jackson (“Jam” in 1991) and Janet Jackson (“Alright” in 1990); and had a hilarious cameo in the video for “One More Chance,” an early hit for the Notorious B.I.G., who followed in Heavy D’s big-man footsteps.
Though Heavy D continued to record music — including a reggae-influenced album, “Vibes,” in 2008 — and performed as a rapper as recently as the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards this summer, he was better known in recent years for his acting work. He had recurring roles on TV shows including “Roc,” “The Tracy Morgan Show” and “Boston Public,” and parts in films including “The Cider House Rules” and the current “Tower Heist.”
Survivors include a daughter, Xea.

I recently just finished a project titled "Flight 614" (shout out to K Lay for the title). It is my first attempt at an album mixtape with production and all. I got some original tracks produced by J Rawls, new music from Fly.Union and some new tracks from Jay Electronica and Reflection Eternal.
Trav Dave helped produce the project by getting his internet hustle on and got tracks from Willy Dope, Young Wise, and 6S. Trav even collaborated with DOE over the I Wanna Rock track called CO3 which is getting some good downloads and good spins in the Columbus clubs. Dominique Larue, CoCity(The 3-R-D), DebonAir and even Danielle laid some dope freestyles as well. I dont want to give up too much more information other than...be prepared to be surprised by the quality project produced by me for The Usual Suspects Crew for 2K10

On Facebook I mentioned that I had different birthday gift lists. This also ties in with my post "Holiday before the holiday". Basically I started something like this a few years back, when I first crossed the 30 barrier. I figure I'll never get what I want if I dont ask for it. Honestly, it worked. I appreciated the gifts I got as opposed to nothing at all or something outlandish. So I expanded on it at the time and gave them names. Like any other major event,theres the platinum, gold, silver and bronze level gifts. You pick it and fall in line...

Music is good. Cd's of new albums(although I download on the regular) artists are good because I need something for the car. Can't forget dvd's of movies, especially action flicks. I would prefer the store brand or a high quality bootleg. The more recent the better. Even though it wouldnt hurt to have a dvd of the classic movies..that would show me how cool you are if you came with a good old movie(not Casablanca but like Friday, lol). Gift cards are a good move cause its simple and Signature Tees are good too. I usually spend my summer trying to find that one t-shirt that no one else rocks and dare to be different. I usually come back to it and get some sneakers but thats a good start. Yankee fitted--yes Yankee,Mets, Jets, Giants only (7 1/8 or 7 1/4) and scarves are all good gifts. Basically gifts under $30 fall in this category for me.

I have an xbox(for the kids) and an xbox 360 so any of the new sports/action games are A-OK with me. I'm an Apple computer person so accessories along that line work. I guess this is where the gadgets and "boytoys" come into play. Accesories like watches, belts and good cufflinks arent to bad to introduce either. Computer harddrives and jump drives( which are pretty cheap nowadays) are also good gifts for the kid.

The event will feature local performing artists,national recording artist, Raheem DeVaunghn, DJ Rich NYCE from The Usual Suspects and Mr. Nice Guy. A portion of the proceeds will go toward Second Harvest Food Bank. In Ohio, over 200,000 families receive emergency food assistance. Across the nation, food banks are experiencing food shortages.

Weekend wrapup-Halloween weekend

This past weekend was a great weekend to me. Well lately the last couple have been good. I didnt hit the streets on Friday but on Saturday, the Suspects held downtown down!! At BOMA we had DJ Dru holding it down,at the Brownstone, we had the Bklyn Butcha and at ICON, had the Bklyn-Queens connection, King Seven the Great and me RICH NYCE...
Every spot had their own appeal and Im glad that folk came out dressed for the part. The ICON went with a glow in the dark theme and it played out perfectly with blacklights everywhere and neon tape and decorations. Definitely turned the night into a good atmoshphere. I gotta give props to all the Geisha girls, sexy cops, sexy nurses and school girls that I saw. Then the fellas played their part as well. I went with a 50 cent anti costume theme and it all worked out to be a good night (I will definitely add pics later). Most of the folks have pics on their facebook page(facebook.com/richnyce) but I did enjoy myself. With the hour going back too, that also helped make the party rock on!!

I think I can rock till 4 most times but not sure if everyone can handle that. In any case, a good weekend, look out for photos and the suspects have some upcoming events this week...

My HS friend(who I love and adore then and now) sent me this link. Its from a fellow blogger and its called letter to the dj. Now I have written something similar to this awhile ago on facebook but its always good to get another look and persepctive. It inspired me to get out of my comfort zone and deejay the way I really wanted to deejay. Capturing the lost art of deejaying,because thats what I feel it is right now.
Miss Jean, great job. I have always felt that I deejayed a little differently and wasnt going to conform totally to just what the masses want. However this hit home for me. Please read and share and when you hear me spin, know that it resurfaced from this read.

My thoughts on some promoters right now

I guess I really can't play catch up but I have been having a few thoughts. I often wonder how these promoters can say they throw the "best" party or have the "best" dj in the city...? For real? I mean I understand the promoting game. I know that if you come off small(pause), the event will be even worse. So make it appear to be the best party ever had!!! No one will ever want to goto another party!!! Yeah Yeah Yeah...

THEN my facebook inbox gets flooded because everyone thats part of the same promotion team,sends the sameemail at the same time...isnt that considered SPAM? I mean, should I delete the contact because you're spamming me...?

Then the "best DJ in the WORLD" tagline is a little weak dont you think? Have a catchy phrase or something. Let that be the marketing value vs. the best. Because what if he/she isnt the best? Some dj's arent even really dj's. They just know how to play songs. How many can move the crowd and really have them experiencing the feeling of the party....??

So this is coming as a consumer...make the party fun, get a dj that knows what he/she is doing. Get me to come to your event,not because its the end all events of the year but because its gonna be a good time. Then you might have something!

So I feel that I have had a very inspirational and spiritual weekend on so many levels. This past weekend was the opening of the movie "Notorious". I was pleasantly surprised by the movie and how it was put together. For the most part the casting of the characters and the story seemed to fit all of the information I remember. Maybe thats what really made it work to me. That I really could relate. I was around during those times and all the emotions I felt then, I felt watching the movie. Thats why it was such a great movie to me...it struck something in me.

So as I travelled and reminisced on the whole Bad Boy Biggie Smalls, Notorious B.I.G. era, I was blessed by two mixtapes. I know there are a ton out there and everyone wanted to make one(I have one of my own out there too) but these two I really dug. One was from my man J-Rawls of the almighty USC(Usual Suspects Crew).

Then we had the inauguration of a new president. Not just your regular president, but a president that this country and world are probably going to see for awhile and changes in this country are going to be global. This country and especially African Americans felt a resurgence of pride and are ready to be Americans again. The inauguration, even though it was frigid cold brought 2 million people to DC and the weekend prior, I was in MD and I could sense it. Such a beautiful feeling and one of just pure pride.

My Love-Hate NY Relationship

I spent my Christmas vacation in my hometown, Queens NYC. It's home but there are some definite things that I have been spoiled with as I currently reside in Columbus, Ohio. So...where do I begin?

Hate----As soon as I got into NYC proper and I was dropping my man Ja off in the Bx(Fordham Road area), I hit a pothole so hard that I caught an instant flat...ARRGGHH!!! This is about midnight and its brick cold. As I begin unpacking the trunk to get the spare, a cab comes up to me and says there's a 24 hour tire place 2 blocks back....

Love---- I'm able to get a new tire with the quickness(yes it was that bad)

Hate---- Someone put a barrier where the pothole was to warn folk and as I'm continuing back to get back on the road, a cab plows through the barrier and sends the barrier flying into my car....

Love----So many food options. Diversity from all over the world at any given time.

Hate----The tax and cost of food....ridiculous

Love---That my moms and pops can cook and keeps me grounded to my roots.

Love---Traveling through the city(all boros) to get caught up on life

Hate---That there's no parking or if it is, its a tight squeeze and paying is bananas

Love---Good ol MTA and my ipod, lol

Love---Getting reconnected with my old friends and family

Hate---That I don't have enough time to see everyone.

Love---Holiday weekends on the radio. As a deejay, I get caught up on new music and appreciate good deejays.

Hate---That I'm usually driving and can't get the names of new songs like I want to.

Aight, so those are just a few things that I got me this last trip. But as things go, I come back to Ohio fully charged with my NYC energy and it will carry me thru till the next time, I return.

The recent recession has claimed yet another victim, this time it's Hip Hop mogul Jay-Z and his company J Hotels.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Jay-Z along with partners Abram Shnay, Scott Blaichman, and Charles Blaichman were to build a luxury hotel on a piece of land Jay-Z's company J Hotels purchased in Manhattan's Chelsea area.
Due to the recession, construction on the land has been delayed because of lack of funding. The recession has made it much harder to find funding and borrow loans from the bank.
"Even the banks who want to give us money can't," Charles Blaichman told the New York Times.
J Hotels and developer Charles Blaichman aren't the only ones being hit hard by the recession, $5 billion worth of development projects have either been delayed or canceled.
There is no word yet on how long the project will be delayed.
Aside from the potential Chelsea hotel, Jay-Z also has his New York nightclub 40/40 and a club in Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel which will open on December 30.
Most recently, Jay-Z made headlines when he sold his Rocawear line to Iconix Brand Group for $204 million.
Now what i dont get is why does Jay-Z need a loan for 66 million to open a hotel! THe recession couldnt have hit his pockets like that

Aight so I'm not a rapper...by no means! I'm a deejay that used to be a dancer(back in the day) that used to be a graff artist(extra back in the day), but all in all I love to party and have people enjoy themselves. I guess its in my blood, as wella s in the stars...(Dec 10th)

So about 5 years ago, I started having these huge events aka birthday parties. It started off private..marking a milestone in my life. Cool. The years following that, it just felt right to do it again, and again and again. So I had the BLACK PARTY. Dare I say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Having it at LOTUS(shout out to them) and then Bodega.

(Cue echo and good theme music)Somewhere in there, the greatest group of guys/deejays assembled. I guess it was the unofficial start of my deejay crew. I asked them all to come and spin at my birthday party and we had a BLAST!!! Shout out to the Cove for that one...

Last year was Dirty, Sexy, Money and it most certainly was. Teaming up with my man LOUGAMBINO made for a real nice party. It always does. My crew from New York was in the building so the energy was high and 10 bottles later folk were still talking about it...That was the emergence of Mr. Incredible aka The Party Starter amongst other names...

This year it's all about the LIMELIGHT

The Cove(now ICON ULTRALOUNGE) will be transformed something official is all I can say. Me and Gambino are back at it, and we have a few more people celebrating too. We have a crazy guestlist so we want ya'll to come and have some fun...I rock for my people cause their energy gives me energy so its gonna be a fun night. The suspects will be in the building and most definitely Rich NYCe will be in the building. So although Im not a rapper...I'm kind of a big deal...at least for Saturday!!

A CHRISTMAS STORY FOR PEOPLE HAVING A BAD DAY

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce
toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas
pressure.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed
Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were
about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven
knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the
toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of
rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the
cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the
cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the
kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the
straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door,
yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't
this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to
stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Basically I started something like this a few years back, when I first crossed the 30 barrier. I figure I'll never get what I want if I dont ask for it. Honestly, it worked. I appreciated the gifts I got as opposed to nothing at all or something outlandish. So I expanded on it at the time and gave them names. Like any other major event,theres the platinum, gold, silver and bronze level gifts. You pick it and fall in line...

For a little over a year now, I have tried to send "weekly positives" out to my friends. These arent forwards that I've grabbed from some email. These are straight up letters/emails sent to people in my life that I know personally. I may not speak to all of them on a regular basis and I have missed a week or two with the weekly positives, but everyone knows that they're genuine. I started it because of watching The Secret. If you are familiar with it, you know it deals with the laws of attraction and energy, which I do believe in. It doesnt replace my faith, it enhances my faith. So needless to say, having a deep moment today(since the 10th is my birthday) this was the weekly positive I sent. I share it with you because I want to...

35 years ago God had a plan. Although the plan isnt complete, its been a steady progression. There have been some setbacks, some redirections, some miscues, some victories and some losses. All in all though the plan has always moved forward. As another year passes and I get a little bit more mature(not old), I thank you for being a part of my life. Your energy helps me out in more ways than you know. I thank you for your birthday wishes. May God Bless you and keep you through this holiday season. Now that I'm well into my 30's I have a confession. I appreciate my birthday more. I have been going all out since my 30th and I have become a true Sagittarius and am a full blown party animal when it comes time for it and I wouldn't have it any other way. 5 years later, Im still at it, but more than just party, I want to get my grown man on...so I have a few suggestions for not only my birthday but I think guys that are trying to clean themselves up a bit.

Caught up in the hype. At this stage in life, you should be able to tell the difference between reality and media hype. Getting caught up in entertainment hype, smoke and mirrors is so juvenile. Now what I really mean is that unless you are directly affected by the news, it is just that...news.

Buy things that you like, not things that you have been influenced to like. Doubt if Im gonna pay $200 for jeans...EVER. So I could care less who endorses it or who I've seen wearing it. My shoe game is pretty tight and I think longevity and good clothes are timeless. I think I'm classicly dressed with enough fashionista in me to survive these mean streets.

Accessories. I'm starting to look at more than just the clothes now, but some of the other gear that goes with it. The ties, the cufflinks, the watch and the belt. I'm into grown man sh^t now so when you're looking to get me a gift, don't think what you would get for your dad. Think what would you get for your cool older brother that your girlfriends all secretly have a crush on. Details on specifics might come a little later...

Notorious Soundtrack

The Notorious B.I.G.may have one last treat for his fans.
According to the Hollywood Insider Wayne Barrow, producer of the late rapper's upcoming biopic Notorious, has found demo recordings from Biggie's early days prior to his career at Bad Boy Records.
"We kept everything as is, in its raw form," Barrow said. "This is what got him the deal, plain and simple. His fans have been asking for it for years."
Not much has been offered in the way of details, but the film's director George Tillman, Jr. assured a great compilation.
"That's what I'm excited for," said Tillman. "It's incredible stuff."
The soundtrack is expected to feature a mix of B.I.G's hits, as well as Jay-Z and Santogold's "Brooklyn Go Hard" (produced by Kanye West), in addition to a remixed version of "One More Chance" with the rapper's son, Christopher "CJ" Wallace.

The Roots survived a double-decker tour bust crash Wednesday (Nov. 19) night while driving though Paris.
Just hours ago, Roots member ?uestlove revealed to Okayplayer.com that the bus, complete with full lounge and bathroom on the first level, was flipped upside-down.
The news came just days after the group announced a temporary retirement from touring.
?uestlove emailed Okayplayer, which he helped co-found, the details of the crash, which he wrote an hour after the crash.
"In reality the crash was all of about 7 seconds," wrote ?uestlove. "...but to do a 360 on the highway and end up ramped up (the van that crashed into ours was UNDER our double decker bus) in the air....is....well...a frigging miracle."
"My first thought was not move a fucking inch," he continued in the e-mail. "I always had fear that we would fall off a cliff while in high mountain traveling like Denver or Switzerland. I couldn't tell where gravity began and ended."

KaNO is a New York City artist who is quite the jack of all trades when it comes to design. His name has been attached to a variety of different projects including commercial design, graphic novels, animation and most recently, vinyl toys. His custom work on platform toys such as Kidrobot’s Munny have been displayed in many gallery shows and are highly praised by the toy community. Heavily influenced by classic cartoons and animation, KaNO’s art, both illustration and toy, share a common aesthetic that is playful and nostalgic. Its reported that Big Boi's album is currently being wrapped up and Dre is still in the middle of creating his masterpiece. Big Boi advised MTV that their plans are to release his album in Mid January or February. Following the release, Dre will be dropping his album. R.I.P. Larry James-1968 Track Olympian

On a personal note, for those people that are true blue track fans Larry James died. He ran in the 1968 Olympics with Lee Evans and was the second man to break the 44 second barrier for 400m. He's of greater imprtance to me because I actually met the man and spent some time with him when I was in college. He really inspired me to do better all around as an athlete and as a person and I thank him for laying that foundation. His energy was so strong and he will be missed by many.

We have a new President in our midst. I wanted to put this up yesterday before it got tainted with all of the other information that will flood the information highway. Keep in mind that these are my thoughts and are influenced not by television(not directly) but by my experiences and dealings with life. Plus Im a peoplewatcher so I get it there too.

One of the first things that I recognized is how POWERFUL this country will eventually become. On a national and international scale. Because racism has been so prevalent here in these good ol United States, people all over the world have recognized a change. Now I don't guarantee immediate success but when you have people celebrating in France..that means something. It means that America actually may be able to get its "swagger" back. Mr. Obama represents so much more and I think this is a powerful step in the right direction.

On a national level, I can't wait to see the ripple effect this has on society. Having an African American president, that is smart and eloquent means that the men have to step their game up(obviously Im included). He's 47 years old. He's not 80! So there are those babyboomers that directly relate to him whether its by age and experience or color or by the mere fact of how hes come up through the rankings. This country needed this grassroots type of person to be the president. Im hoping it shakes the foundation of guys all around this nation to stand up a little straighter, to study a little harder, actually PULL UP THEIR PANTS and try to make an investment in the future.

The first couple....what else can I say...? Black Love is beautiful. Let me preface by saying GENUINE Black love is beautiful! I'm sure couples will get together and try to stay together but what I want to see are the couples that really love each other. I've had my ups and downs in my own life and this is inspiration to the 10th degree to make what I currently have work. To have a friend/companion/ride or die chick by your side....

Politics will never be the same. I believe that this years election, more people were involved in politics than ever before. I certainly was! Some of it was really for entertainment value and watercooler talk, and some of it was genuine concern for my future. It was interesting to see us discuss and talk about the fate of this country. We actually had some passion about issues that concerned us. I work in a predominantly white, catholic, school so it was heavy republican environment. Conversations were quietly discussed in little pockets areound the building. No one wanted to cause a "stir". It still surprises me how disconnected we are on issues that directly relate to us. Other countries that elect high ranking officials are killing people and they definitely take their politics seriously. I just feel like we're a little apathetic at times but this year we were definite active participants.

He was the best candidate who happened to be black, not a black candidate that surprised folk. Although he's black(or mixed) he was still the best candidate hands down. I know 85% of the people see color first but out of that 85% understand that the American people were tired of the Republican control. So Barack represented the Democratic ticket well to me. Him being an intelligent black man is great to me(the icing on the cake) because it does so much more for the country as a whole but dealing with politics...he was it. I hate that people are surprised that hes smart. He has the credentials to prove it. There are always some haters out there that think he's TOO smart but isnt that what we need to lead our country? DUH...

Give him time. The obvious next thing that people are going to wonder about are how soon are we going to see changes?? You know he's inherited a very hectic, chaotic government and theres no telling how soon he can get it all together...so everyone went to vote and they expect immediate results...but I know there are some people smarter than that.

What are we going to do now? Support!! Be smarter citizens! Be patient with what he has in front of him and support...it takes more than a day to elect the president. We need to stand by him and now continue to be active.

As usual, these are my thoughts and I wanted to be an active participant with my blogs and the C.O.R.N.

Is there anything that can be said, that we don't already know, and believe? We are a part of history!! A lot of prayers, tears and energy, lives lost over decades has brought us to this point. As a black man, I'm overwhelmed. As a citizen I am relieved. These last 8 years have been rough, borderline treacherous to some and although its not immediately over, we believe that things can ONLY get better. We have a role model, we have a mythbreaker in our midst and we have a race of people that finally have some pride in their country. I'm just sharing my thoughts. Theres more reason to be positive and to embrace God at the change we have just experienced. Take care and God Bless...

Shout out to Mirrorlove Productions and Susupect Trav Dave on the video!! Kevin Liles, Diddy, Jay-Z, Mary J Blige and Beyonce, were all in Columbus, Ohio November 3rd to encourage folk to get out there and vote. They didn't come as performers, but as concerned citizens. They were at the King Arts Complex, which essentially is the heart of the Black Community. Beautifully done and there were about 7,000 people there.

Christmas in November

There hasn't been this much excitement in a long while. I'm actively looking at Twitter updates, watching the news and discussing with coworkers and the like, the change that is expected to happen. Most adults seem to have a different demeanor on this day. We all look like kids on Christmas morning with anxiety and a certain level of excitement in the air. Columbus is a beautiful fall day(unseasonably warm) and so weather isn't a deterrent. Right now, I'm just pleasantly optimistic on what I see and am waiting to see some of the results. I know I had a relatively easy ride( 2 hours) but I know there are others that have had a difficult time and there are people who might not be willing to work...PLEASE DO!!
Now on the deejay side of things, I'm spinning at Club FIRE which is the smaller version of Club ICE, newly remodeled and not really open to the public just quite yet. BET will be there tracking things as well as Cousin Jeff from BET since Ohio and especially Columbus is a big swing state...
I'm supposed to be all decked out to spin so I have to figure it out...then I'm trying to see what I want to spin...is it a full blown party? I guess politicians know how to kick it right? Special Requests...? Eesh. I definitely enjoy the opportunity so this could be my ticket...!

So here is a forward I recieved today at work. Since I'm on my politics this last week or so, I thought I would do my part and share. Now we already know what this is about and what some of the bigger hidden challenges that exist, but this made it very plain..

THE JUXTAPOSITION OF FACTS....A USEFUL PERSPECTIVE.......

A question of perspective:
Obama/Biden vs McCain/Palin, what if things were switched
around?..... think about it.

Would the country's collective point of view be different? Could racism be the culprit?

Ponder the following:

What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?

What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?

What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?

What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a
severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?

What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?

What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)

What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter?

What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included
discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?

You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected
reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes
positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

Making a Difference...

So of course you know, Im a New Yorker but have lived in Ohio for awhile now. As this upcoming election is about a week away, I began thinking about how crucial everyones vote is going to be. People are predicting a 75% turnout from voters which is phenomenal! Ohio is one of the few states where you can vote early, so I decided to take advantage of that. I was always very skeptical because its an in person absentee ballot. That means you fill it out, put it in an envelope and submit it. We're so used to punching it in right there on the spot(electronically) and it tallying. Not to mention all the news going around about voter registration fraud and other things going on and especially in Ohio. I just felt that something was going to go wrong, but I decided to trust the system and carry on.

Monday afternoon I made my way to Vets memorial(a large venue that holds concerts and what not) and waited in line for about 2 hours. YEP 2 hours. Fortunately I had my text game together as well as mobile uploads to facebook so people got to see what I experienced. Now the process to me was actually pretty good until I got to actually vote. To see the name Barack Obama on the ticket and to know what this represented actually meant something to me.

We have heard the stories in the past, and seen the videos of "Eyes on the Prize", and who knows how many times we have heard/experienced the history of Martin Luther King and other Civil Rights leaders from the past, but this was different. As I stood in the line and looked around at people from all different nationalities, old women and little babies, older gentlemen and people from all walks of life, it was really something for me to take in and experience. I saw an older couple arm in arm the whole way and I was moved. I hoped all the people I saw were voting Democrat, but Im sure they all weren't. However, the turnout was incredible to me and as I left, the line was getting LONGER.

I filled out the ballots, signed it, said a quick prayer and submitted it. I wore my sticker "I voted" proudly as I walked out of Vets, looking at the line and wondering how many people will feel like me as they leave. We've waited a long time for change to come and I pray that my vote and effort wasn't in vain...wait I KNOW it won't be in vain so go get the same feeling I got...

Mos Def is back!!

Mos Def has always been one of my favorite emcees. I grew up as a Brooklyn/Queens backpacking dancer and I was always about the lyrics and Mos Def did that. He's been on the low recently. Word on the street is Q Tips new album is coming out November 4th. It's called "The Rennaisance."
Here's the next single off the album. It's called Move and I'm definitely adding it to my underground playlist. The video is a good vintage style video that compliments the track too by the way.

So in this whole blogosphere, I subscribed to a blog thats keeping track of the polls to see the real deal about the election. As things begin to formalize themselves, I can't help but feel good with the direction of things. That is that we are getting closer to having a Democratic president and CHANGE is coming!! But we know these next fourteen days or so are NOT going to be easy...
However McCain is getting closer than we think.

Late Thursday Nights make for bad Friday mornings...I definitely struggled a bit off of 3 hours sleep. Good thing today I could chill out and I will try and get my nap in before I have to hit it again. The cloudy days don't help either. Maybe this is more of a long status update vs. a blog. I guess I should talk about music or entertainment or something like that vs how I'm feeling....who wants to hear about that...lol

In any case, I thought thats what blogs were supposed to be about...right? I always want to shout out my newfound twitter folk that follow what I put up, and I really want to put up something meaningful. Maybe by the end, this typing therapy will bring me the answer. Maybe I'm crashing from the donut rush that I've had all day since I was tired and needed a boost...maybe I need to download some new music that will inspire me. What have I gotten myself into??

SOOOOOO my man Trav Dave put me onto some new technology called Twitter...Actually my homegirl 6s did awhile back but I basically brushed it off. Initially when Trav told me about it, I brushed it off too. I was just getting used to Facebook!!! Although I'm tech savvy(I can navigate comfortably between Mac and PC), and pretty comfortable with tech hardware and software, I think Im limited in my other tech side. I really only check email and search for music online. I am one of those people that uses the internet as a resource for information versus a means to entertain and live. I have to actively commit to doing this!! So then Trav puts me onto twitter and I like it...I mean we all like to share our thoughts with the world right? So I start following people and then people start following me and Im like this is sweet!! But I realize at some point, I should have something to say right...?

Weekend wrapup!!

This was a coolout weekend for me sorta.....this is something that I thought I would try. How my weekend went here socially and deejay wise. I know the Flypaper crew was having their weekend extravaganza at BOMA in Columbus. Check out flypaperblog.com for more details, but for the past year, they have put Columbus on the map as an online newspaper as well as party promotions and the what not. Their website features music and entertainment, some street politics and the movers and shakers around here. Now CBUSTED was also celebrating and M Coture. CBUSTED takes pics at all the hot events and happenings and posts them. I don't always like the pics because there should be SOME discretion to me. If I see some of the pics and I'm from outta town, I might NOT want to come but in general they are all pretty dope and a good representation of that good ol young urban nightlife...aight let's get it.

Thursday -ICON starting out with Ladies Night now. Its started okay, no cover, cheap drinks and a good vibe, but it actually started to pick up a little speed and have some good entertainment value. So what turned into a simple chill night, I actually began to rock a little bit and folks came to party. I especially peeped out the college kids in the house that probably dont have class on Friday, buuutt I have work so I had to cut it short...lol

Friday-I held it down and watched some good ol H.S. football for their Homecoming(we won by the way). Afterwards chilled a little bit and went home to download music and get twitter updates(richnyce is my name on there by the way). Trav Dave was on camera detail so I was expecting to get updates but I guess that didn't work out.

Saturday-
A few more weeks to go and I'm done with peewee football! So far so good though, as my son and his team have been getting busy and are still undefeated. It's been unseasonably warm, and I like that adn I think everyone else does too. So, I watched a few more games, came home watched a few more games on tv, had my sons buddy shoot through and then it was on for the night. There was a lot of new music that I wanted to play and I was excited because part II of the FLYPAPER Anniversary party was going on. There was also the Black, Gold and Cream party going on so it was gonna be stacked, and "swag" was in effect. I have these deejay dreams which lets me know how the night's going to go.

So I had a feeling it was going to be a good one. And it was a good look indeed.

Sunday is the day of church and rest,rest,rest....

I plan on putting up some audio and video from this weeked sometime soon. Gotta get folk on the job getting me the stuff and then its on...!!

Re-Invention

Its easy to be cool but its hard to be hip....

I say that because I think I'm a pretty cool dude. I dress within my limits and budget, I try to stay current with music(I HAVE TO), and I can speak to people young and old. There is so much information and communication out in the world today that there is no reason to not be able to reach the entire world. I find more ways to tell my story and more avenues to reachBut even as a deejay thats part of the hottest deejay crew around, we have to keep up with more than just the music. The style!! I guess this is something of a lifestyle change...make that lifestyle adjustment.

So right now, the pace is about to pick up to 100 million miles an hour. Its gonna be hard for some people to see the vision when we're so far in the future. The Suspect Crew will be hitting you with the sights and sounds of us. We are certainly more than deejays, we are entertainers and when its all said and done, we hope to have carved a niche in the deejay world..

Fall Lineup Part II

So I decided to get my wardobe together. I decided to put away the spring gear and I need a fall wardrobe so Im on the prowl for the fall shoes, jeans and sweaters. It's hard to decide where to start but typically I like to start from the bottom up and then outside in(if you get it). That means shoes, pants,shirts...then hats, jackets, gloves scarves etc.

SHOES I have all styles of sneakers and shoes thanks mainly in part to my desire to have comfy feet. The years of pounding from track always have me searching for comfort. But as fall is here, my sneaker game must change too. Fall colors and darker colors are what Im shooting for. I already have my eye on 1-2 pairs. My boot game this year consists of the standard construction Timbs, some ACG boots and 1-2 more designer boots. If you are really a classic cat like me, I still rock some Polo boots (circa 93)from time to time.

PANTS A good pair of corduroys and some jeans are tops on my list. Darker colors, a different wash or even some "heavy" jeans are what Im looking for. Sad thing about jeans is the price keeps going up based on what you want. For me, I really don't need or want designs on the back pocket and the what not, so my range stays about the same depending on where I shop. Brand X Girbaud jeans have been my jeans of choice for years but I know there are some others out there. The cords are more along the lines of work and certain occasions where I go out.

TOPS Now my style varies and the good thing about it, is Im open. Honestly I'm looking for some long sleeve shirts with custom designs. I had a few last year and they worked out pretty good, so Im looking for my hookups. Im thinking about airbrush designs and some other artful designs. I love Miskeen and am definitely starting to get with some of the local designers to get that promotion out there. We will see on that tip. I'm looking at improving my sweater game. I want to have some thick sweaters to rock as well as some fitted sweaters. I guess I have to stay in shape over the winter..

OUTERWEAR I may mess around and get a good ski jacket(yep a ski jacket)and definitely be on the lookout for my Northface upgrade this fall/winter. I also dress in layers so hoodies(looking for my cone head champion) with bubble vests are gonna be in fashion. Leather jackets are my norm and although I may be off by a year or so, I feel a leather jacket is in order this year.

ACCESORIES Of course transitioning from ball caps to nice winter hat is where I am. I actually like a ski caps with the tassles on it just for effect more than anything else. Scarves seem to be in style but they seem to be more fashion than function. So Im looking for a functional scarf. If I luck out, Im definitely looking with the even some warm socks also make my list. Having warm socks means that I need a good pair(or two) of boots. See above for that. I can say that I will need some gloves and thick winter gloves are what I'm gonna get. No need to be tough. Be smart!!

So thats my current agenda. I'm allowed to change it up and I have some looks that Im going for...for sure! Its definitely going to be some Classic NY Moments and some 2010 moments..yep that far ahead of ya'll...holla at yo boy!

Fall Lineup

So I recently did an inventory of my spring wear. And I think I overdid it. Since I deejayed almost every weekend this summer, it was not uncommon of me to get a new shirt or shirts every week. If I have a new shirt, there was a good chance that Im getting some new kicks too. So as the pile of shoeboxes increased in my closet and my pile of tshirts grew, I realized I had a problem....where does it all go??

So now that Fall is here, am I going to suffer the same fate? Will I have boots, and sweaters and long sleeve shirts going crazy? sigh....

New Reality Show-Man and Wife

I'm not the biggest tv watcher. I have a select number of shows that I watch and can't even say on a regular basis. I just have so much other things to do. I'm trying to get hip to Heros though. However, there is a show that I used to watch online on a regular basis. Shout out to O Sharp for putting me on to Man and Wife with Fatman Scoop and his wife Shanda. CHeck my ipod. I have almost all the episodes and I certainly put my crew on to some as well.

On the internet, they answer viewer emails, videos and phone calls about sex and relationships and it can get graphic, funny, but always real. I guess they worked a deal and eventually made it to MTV. The premiere was last night and I thought it would be watered down for TV's sake.

It was a decent premiere for those of you in tvland that have never seen it. Not sure how many episodes they are gonna have but Im definitely gonna try and pencil it in..

Politics as usual

Aight, so Im 30 something years old and its very interesting to actually witness history. These last few years, months, weeks and even days write a new chapter in American history and will effect me directly and my children sometime soon. It definitely makes me very fearful for the future.
First off with the elections coming up in about 6 weeks or so, I can't imagine that people really want to elect someone that represents the last 8 years of turmoil. I know that I'm a democrat and would love to see a Democrat as president because thats what I fell best represents me, but ANYONE can see that we need to make a change. However, Im fearful that this won't happen because of the smoke and mirrors. Im also fearful because, this country is still as racist as ever. When it comes down to it, people want to vote with who they are familiar with in looks and its not so much the political agenda...its a pop culture mentality and that's bad....
With the debates getting ready to start, the Republican Party has been dancing around by hiding Governor Palin and not having her answer questions and now theres talk of McCain not making it to the first debate in Mississipi. WHAT?? Yeah, he wants to be in Washington to potentially help this bailout with the economy. However, educated people will soon realize that its more of a ploy than an action. It sounds good, but its not necessary because he's not involved! Go debate and tell the people how you would handle this situation. You can multitask can't you?? Not looking good America...
Lastly, the economy. We should have seen this coming. Unfortunately its going to get worse before it gets better and we need to do what we can as citizens to try and soften the blow. Its a shame that we might be potentially facing a DEPRESSION...like in the 30's...WTF???
That's just me venting, but it doesn't look good.
